What happened? Was it the dreaded click of death? Drive failure or data corruption? Not that I can help, I just want the gruesome details....

Quothe the lord of the dark Gates:

One disk to rule them all, One disk to find them.
One disk to bring them all and in the darkness grind them.
In the Land of Redmond where the shadows lie.

Well it seems that my file allocation table got corrupted. I now have a few gibberish named files and I lost a partition.

Would Partition Magic help?
Doesn't Norton have disk repair utility?

Partition magicwill restore the partition but the file table ( I may be using the wrong term--- the part that "indexes the files and folders on the drive) still cant tell the computer what is on the drive .. the partition that exists now should have some files on it,however nothing is showing up. I believe if I can find sa program that will restore my "index", I will be fine. I read in one of the virus repair program documents that there is another copy of this table somewhere else on the hard drive. As for NU I don't have it. Right now I am trying to use a trial version of EasyRecovery to see if it can find my data.
