Hello,

Does anyone have experienced with Mac EMR. I have review SpringCharts, PowerMed, and MacPractice. However, none is as comparable to e-MDs or Praxis.

Thank you for your input.

Amazing that question doesn't have a solid answer. If medicine were a buisness, a mac type would build a solution. Does everyone know we are so cheap?

I received this e-mail from the AAFP. Hopefully Dr Kibbe does not mind me posting it here:

Subject: Any interest in running your EHR on a Mac?
Dear Colleagues: I'm interested to know if there are EHR listserv talkers and lurkers who might be more interested in owning Apple computers, now that the new Macs can run Windows software.

To clarify for those of you who haven't heard about this development: The new Apple computers (so far the iMac and MacBook Pro laptop) run on processors (chip sets) from Intel, called Duo Core.

A week or so ago, Apple released a free software program called Boot Camp that permits these Duo Core Macs to run Windows XP as an operating system, and thus to natively run software, e.g. EHRs and PMS programs, that is built for Windows to also now run on Apple hardware.

There is are several good articles online about this, including http://news.com.com/Apple+Windows+on+a+Mac+is+here/2100-1012_3-6057856.html. I suggest you do a Google search for "Apple Windows" for more news and information.

There is also a new beta software program called Parallels that will allow these new Macs to run Windows and OS X simultaneously.

Performance is supposedly top notch running Windows-only programs on the new Macs using Boot Camp or Parallels, in distinction to the emulation software like Virtual PC.

Any interest? Should we offer more information about this on the Center for HIT web site?

With kind regards, DCK

That's not quite the same as running a native Mac EMR. The Amiga long ago had this neat trick of running both the Amiga OS and Mac OS simultaneously.

I'm curious as to how many people want to use MacOSX to run their EMRs.
