Does anyone have any experience with Practice One EMR? I'm one of 5 family docs in my practice and I think that we've settled on Practice One. The problem is that we are in NC and cannot find any local users. I understand that Practice One is more commonly in use on the West Coast.

Do you mind sharing the cost you were quoted ???
Looking at the website it doesn't look so cheap if related to GE

Original quote was for $102,347 for the whole shootin' match. We currently use Medical Manager as our business software and did not necessarily want to use the e-Medsys Business Manager. Keeping our own Medical Manager would have reduced the cost to 59,300 which includes the EMR and Breveon Voice recognition modules.
The counter offer was for 75,000 for the entire package (minus the hardware). I think it's a very good system and an excellent price. The problem is that they don't have a foothold in this part of the country and want us to be that "showcase site". That's why the entire package is so important to them and also for the deep discounts.

OUCH
60K for an EMR system with VR a good deal.. Your kidding right..
You could build one heck of an emr for $50k and have pocket change ..
What is scary is this could be another software oprhan like millbrook http://www.practiceone.com/press/GE_agreement.
This is a big danger in the EMR biz and it's the bigger corps that are vunerable.. Webmd is in the orphan biz..
In the interest of disclosure I have an interest in EMR software.. But ours is free..

o.k. Oz, I'll bite. What's the software? I'm guessing it's pretty good, even though free; based on the responses around the site that I have read from you.
Actually, I just found this site, and enjoy it very much.
Got a ? for you.
I'm a solo doc (derm...I'm sure you knew that from the name), going into private practice next summer after I finish my fellowship.
? is: I'm considering SOAPware and Lytec combo (if SOAPware v5 falls short) to manage my (cash) practice. Any thoughts on this one? I've looked at NexTech, VitalWorks and NextGen....but they're too pricey for me. Looks like SW v5 will be pretty comparable to what NexTech has to offer. Glad to see docs that are computer savy helping out other docs, at much more reasonalbe fees.
Also, any thoughts on Dreammaker or MS Frontpage for web page designing (please keep in mind that I'm danger close to being a computer illiterate, unlike yourself...from what I gather)?
JP
P.S.-I'm open to what others might have to say as well. Thanks.
