Yahoo... trying to keep up with Google :D

Associated Press
June 15, 2004 YAHOO16
SAN FRANCISCO -- Yahoo is fortifying its free e-mail service.

The Internet giant is promising service with 25 times more storage and is freeing up millions of previously unclaimed e-mail addresses to fend off a looming challenge from rival Google.

Google's G-mail still isn't available to the public. But it has received widespread publicity since Google unveiled plans to get into the free e-mail business just a few weeks before the company's IPO filing.

Googlemail promised to fill your Googlemailbox with "Appropriate" content.
Yahoo has done a better job of controlling spam than Hotmail.
Where are they getting all the server space from?

Hi MHDoc:

My Yahoo Briefcase is 100MB... I guess I must really rate! <g>

Anyhow, guys, you haven't read the small print: notice that they state that when it comes time to renew, you have to renew at the then-current Mail Plus rate (i.e. most likely it's a sweetened method of forcing us to upgrade to a more $$$$ mailbox).

Regards,
Al

Check out yahooPoPs

http://yahoopops.sourceforge.net/

- I use it with Outlook to check 7 yahoo emails :)

You can Send and Receive with it... works like a charm.

Heck, that's how I'm keeping in touch from Panama City, Panama! I'm picking up my mail from erols.com and reading the email through my Yahoo mailbox. The only gripe is that after I upload the emails, Yahoo doesn't manage to delete them at my Erols account.

AL

My way bypasses Yahoo Web Interface.
With yahooPoPs, your yahoo accounts are just another POP email you can check with your favourite email client. I use Outlook. No needs to login to yahoo. Just comes straight to my desktop.
