Hello board :)

I am Terry Elllis. I have a private practice in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in Clarksville, Tennessee. I enjoy the EMR concept and am a bit of a propeller head when it comes to computers.

I have been a posting member of the EMR Update board for some time...I suspect there are othere here as well.

I'll probably lurk more than post. I just wanted to say howdy.

Terry,
Why??Why don't you want to unwrap your soul in here and convalesce from the rigors of professional life?? :)

Boards bubba - someone came up w/ this silly idea that I am not competent unless I can show them how I can jump through a hoop every few years! Don't worry I'll have my own case of motor mouth on itermittent occasions!

Everyone gets a cool icon (Avatar) - or whatever they are called - here...

I wrote my own EMR starting in 2002. I could not get what I wanted so I went my own way. I am currently on 14 computers using a MySQL database.

I would tell you more, but I want to look at the "Vendor Rules" because technically I could violate the board creators credo by touting my EMR product.

Feel free to discuss what you have, Kursk Scroggie, Alborg & a few others are using their own in-house home-grown EMRs. The vendors we had problems with were post-and-run vendors who were only looking for free advertizing space, weren't interested in discussions.

BTW, r2t2 what is that avatar?

Electronic Medical Record or Electronic Health Record

It's the latest answer to every ill in the US health system.

Since R2T2tellis has R2T2 in the first part of his name I was making a Star Wars movie reference to the 2 droid/androids in the movie R2D2 and C3PO.

My hit rate for humor runs about 10% so maybe I missed on this one.

Hello r2...nanu, nanu? sorry just couldn't resist, especially since I have spent the last hour trying to reach my cable provider and going thru virtual reality loop hell.

but welcome aboard You will find we are actually stranger and more dysfunctional than we first appear.

And I should warn you that in my state lurkers/peepingtoms have committed a felony...unless of course I get to see the video first.

Shalom

I love that term lurk:

Function: intransitive verb
Etymology: Middle English; akin to Middle High German luren to lie in wait

1 a : to lie in wait in a place of concealment especially for an evil purpose b : to move furtively or inconspicuously c : to persist in staying
2 a : to be concealed but capable of being discovered; specifically : to constitute a latent threat b : to lie hidden
- lurk·er noun

Reminds me of the colorful image elicited by the term "Dope Fiend" used by my grandfather.
