I'd like some feedback from users of this software. Viewing a demo tomorrow. Thanks

Greg- This is one of the most-discussed EMR's (and probable one of the best). Superb program, great company, updating it constantly based on user feedback.

I had my second demo of ECW earlier this week. It is the current front runner for my office. We are checking references. If that looks good we will likely sign our contract soon. Check out the Yahoo ECW user group. You have to ask to join and have to have had at least one demo to get in. They have over 1100 posts on ECW.

I liked the way eCW sounded & I heard good things, but I "bagged" them as a contender for my EMR when they refused to let me see an actual onsite practice running their software. All they would offer was an online demo. That made me very suspicious so I looked elsewhere. Are people really signing eCW contracts without ever seeing the actual product in an actual office setting first? Anyone can produce a slick looking online demo.

eCW is one of the EMRs with a better reputation, so this comes as a bit of a surprise.

A live-demo should involve visiting a site using the EMR, spend an afternoon with the docs using the EMR, get a hands on feel.

If a prospective employer can fly you across the country for a job interview, why don't EMR vendors consider this?

Of course you pick up the cost of the trip if you do not buy their EMR

I also can't believe this. They are the BEST with customer service. I doubt they refused to let you see a practice; could it be there was not one in the area? There is a Yahoo discussion group of users who rant and rave about customer service.

I agree, I won't sign a contract until I see the program function in the real world. On the ECW discusion group on yahoo, some users have posted their names as clinics that would allow a site visit. However, there are only a handful and they are a log way from us.

There are plenty of enthusiastic users willing to let you review their sites, me included. The links below will give you a list of volunteers from the Yahoo board:

I am a little hesitant in recommending this software. They are still a small young privately owned company. As such they have limited resources for marketing and support. So far they have done a good job in concentrating more on support of existing user than in marketing to potential customer. I had a hard time getting started with the company at first, but once installed, I have been very happy with the software and with their customer support. I am worried that if they get too big too fast, their philosophy will change. Hopefully by that time, I will not need much support.

Thanks for all the input - since my original post I was contacted by a user a days drive from here you has had physicians come to his site and view the product in action. I actually sent him an email asking if I could visit. I got his email from his profile. He informed me that the site visits to his location were actually set by ECW. I haven't discussed this with anyone at ECW yet.
