Hey, everyone--

What happened to version 2.0 of Amazing Charts? Remember how it was supposed to burst on the scene last month and change the face of medical records? All due respect to Dr. Bertman...

1.2.6 is pretty good, but it's not customizable. Is anyone using the 2.0 beta? Is it worth waiting for?

I just did the 3 month trial version.
The software version 1.26 allow you to create templates for easier documentation of the encounters. However, there is no costumization about new folder or tabs. Nor a document scanning module, the most anticipated upgrade to come in the new version 2. However, you could use a different software to scan your documents, you will need to have another database thou.
I spoke to one of his reps about 3 months ago and He told me Version 2.0 would be released around July 4, obviously didn't happen. This is what they say:
"Version 2 is coming soon!
Essentially rewritten from the ground up for faster speed and efficiency, Amazing Charts still has the same look, feel, and ease of use, while adding a number of new features that our users have requested. Here is a partial list of what you'll see in Version 2:

Drag & Drop Scheduling with multiple-provider views
A new tab, Imported Items, in each patient's chart for scanned and other records
Ability to attach digital images, and other miscellaneous items, to a patient note.
E&M Coder Helper window.
Ability to co-sign charts.
Ability to save outbound letters to chart.
and many, many more smaller features and improvements..."
I belive that for the price it is a good product. Easy to learn. It is a good choice for a short budget office ($500 total) looking foward to the transition to a more powerful EMR. As far I understand, The data could be extrapolated to a different software if you are not satisfied. You have nothing to loose, there is full 3 month trial version.

How did you get to try the version 2.0 alpha?
What is new on it compare with the prior version?
Does it has the scanning module?

EMRHelp: Great--we are all salivating to hear the details :D

My main question is, how customizable is it? Can I change the way the interface looks, the word lists, the fields in each note, how the notes pull data from the summary fields? Is the prescription tool any faster than it used to be? How are user-defined reports handled?

I am getting to like SOAPWare more these days; it would take a lot of advantages to get me to change...

ahhck.
My browser acted up and my post got deleted.

Changes in Amazing Charts 2.0
1. Scanning & Importing Capability
2. Drag/Drop Scheduling Showing Multiple Providers
E&M Coding Helper
Updated Medication Database
Digital Images into Progress Notes
Markedly Faster in Speed & Stability

I consider 1 and 2 the major changes.

I did sign a non-disclosure agreement, I believe, so I'll just make comments about obvious things you should know anyway.

1. Document management
- as expected, AC doesnt "Scan In" documents, it LINKS to documents. You scan 'em in however you want, then Link them up in AC. It works pretty well, especially if you keep the number of documents low. Could you go paperless ? I'd say it'd be tough. Image files (specifically .jpg) display write in an AC window - looks good !

2. Scheduling is quite improved. Secretaries will like it. Rescheduling is easy. You can also drag and drop appointments. The schedule retains the "smooth" "intuitive" Amazing Charts style.

3. Some "online features". Can't talk about those. All I can say is, Jon is a smart guy. That is why he made a good EMR.

I decided to go with MediNotes for my EMR.

Amazing charts was indeed amazing for the price and fun to play with but when I actually tried to use it I realized how many limitations there were.

Since I was already using MediSoft for my PM software it was just too much trouble to duplicate entries for patient demographics etc.

Also, I needed an integrated scanning option for documents.

Since I was starting my practice I did not have the luxury of waiting even a single week for something around the corner.

It seemed to me that there was no way Amazing Charts could keep current on a shoe-string budget. In retrospect, I was right.

MediNotes has been working great for me. I know there are lots of other choices out there and I'm sure many other products are just fine. MediNotes fit my budget and it integrated with MediSoft. The document scanner that comes with MediNotes (not the add-on one) works well for me.

I am 99% paperless and all of my EMR/PM needs are met.
