Anyone's Hospital using Soarian by Siemens?

Siemens offers a total hospital wide solution for patient care. It seems to be catching on.

Siemens is a $74 billion dollar company based in Germany and Pennsylvania.

One hospital claims a $720,000 per year bottom line profit from reduction of expenses plus increased patient flow.

I do not know if it allows doctor's office to link in.

I haven't been very impressed. Lots of patches/updates then new bugs. Doesn't "talk" to any EMR at this point, so would have to log into Soarian from the office to view labs, then manually enter values or scan in printout.

Siemens is having big time economic woes, laying off just under 17000 people worldwide... check out these threads:

My hosipital has spent 14 million on a Siemens EMR - http://histalk2.com/2008/08/14/news-81508/u

I dislike the Siemens system at our hospital system. It is very buggy and crashes frequently. Printing is a nightmare. Remote access rarely works on most computers as it will only work on older versions of Internet Explorer which are unsafe for web surfing due to security flaws. I would stay away from it.

That sounds scary, any older unpatched browser regardless of platform is a huge security risk nowadays, whether it is Safari, IE or Firefox.
